How to apply
- 1.Employer files a "foreign labour demand" request ≥30 days ahead for labour-authority approval (~10–15 working days)
- 2.After approval, employer submits the work-permit application online via the National Public Service Portal, 10–60 days before the start date
- 3.Work permit (Form 12/PLI) issued within ≤5 working days of a complete, valid dossier; standardised to ~10 working days from 2025 (Decree 219/2025/NĐ-CP)
- 4.Use the work permit to obtain the LD work visa; a ≥1-year permit qualifies for a Temporary Residence Card (TRC) to skip repeat visa runs
CostState work-permit fee VND 400k–1M by province (Hanoi ~400k, HCMC ~600k); total employer-side cost incl. legalization/notarization/medical/translation ~USD 800–2,500. Visa and TRC charged separately

Rights: may work only for the sponsoring employer; can obtain a TRC (with a ≥1-year permit) to skip repeat visas; spouse and children under 18 may get an accompanying TT residence card. A TRC is NOT permanent residence — PR needs 3 consecutive years + stricter criteria (mostly via a Vietnamese family sponsor)
